It usually makes videos about video games, but this time it tried something different. It made two videos about a kitchen knife called the Huusk Knife. You might also see it called things like the Huusk Japan Knife, Viking Knife, or Japanese Knife with Finger Hole. No matter the name, they are all the same knife. You may have seen ads on social media for these knives. The ads say the Huusk knife is a real Japanese knife. They also say it is made with old Japanese sword-making skills, and that it is super sharp. They sell it online, usually for about £29.99 (or around $30).
But is the knife really as good as they say? I wanted to find out, so I bought one and tested it myself.
My First Huusk Knife
I saw an ad on YouTube and thought the knife looked cool, so I bought one for £29.99. I thought, “If it’s on YouTube, it must be real.” And yes, the knife did arrive. So, it’s not a scam in that way. You will get the knife if you order it.
But here’s the problem: The ads say the knife is super sharp and made with care. But when I got mine, I found that it was not really true.
At first, the knife was sharp. It could cut paper, meat, and vegetables easily. But after a few months, it became dull and not so good. It still cuts things like chicken or vegetables, but it’s not as smooth or easy as before.
A sharp knife should be able to cut something like bacon fat easily. But now, I have to push hard to cut bacon with this knife. That means the blade is not sharp anymore.
The Huusk website says the knife will stay sharp for a long time, but that wasn’t true for me.
Other People’s Experience
I looked at what other people said about Huusk knives. Some people got lucky and got a sharp knife, like I did at first. But others got very dull knives, almost as blunt as a butter knife. Why is that? I think it’s because the knives are not made with care. Even though the company says they check each knife with a special 120-step process, I don’t believe it. The knives are made in big factories, not by hand, and they are mass-produced. That means they make many knives at once, quickly and cheaply.
The company also makes it hard to return the knife if it’s bad. You have to pay to send it back, and sometimes that costs more than the knife itself. If you still want to buy one, use a credit card so you can get your money back if there’s a problem.
Where Are These Knives Really Made?
The company says the knives are Japanese, but that’s not true. The company is based in Lithuania, and the knives are made in China. You can even buy the same knife for only £2–£3 or $2–$4 if you order it directly from a website like AliExpress. That’s much cheaper than the £29.99 price!
You can even put your own company name on the knife if you buy many at once. So really, it’s just a cheap knife with fancy packaging and smart ads.
After I found out all this, I bought a very similar knife directly from China. It looked and felt the same as the Huusk knife. It had the same shape, same weight, and same blade. The only things missing were the logo and the pretty box.
It used that second knife more carefully, and it stayed sharp for a long time. So, what does that tell us? These knives are the same. The only difference is the price and the brand name.
What Is the Knife Good For?
The Huusk knife works okay for light cooking. You can use it to cut vegetables, fruit, chicken, and bread. But if you try to do more, like cutting hard things or using it every day, it won’t last long. The curved blade looks cool, but doesn’t help much in the kitchen.
It might be a nice gift, especially for someone who likes kitchen tools, but it’s not the best knife out there. You can find better ones for a cheaper price.
Be Careful When You Order
Some people say they tried to buy one knife but were charged for three or more. That’s not fair! Always check your order carefully before paying.
The company also says things like “Special offer! Only a few left!” but that’s just a trick to make you buy quickly. That offer never really ends.
So here is the truth in simple words:
- Huusk knives are made in China, not Japan.
- They are not handmade like the ads say.
- The same knife is sold cheaper on other websites.
- The knife is okay for light use, but it does not stay sharp for long.
- If you want to buy it, use a credit card just in case.
- There are better knives for the same or less money.
After shared my video review, the Huusk company did not like it. They even tried to get my video taken down by saying it was fake or mean. They also change their website name often to hide bad reviews from people. Now, they go by names like “Huusk-original” and even have a business address in the United States to seem more real. So, please be careful. Don’t believe everything you see in an ad. Always read reviews and ask questions before buying. If you still want the Huusk knife, it’s better to buy the same one directly from China. It costs less and does the same job. You’ll save money, and you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.
